SkillsUSA Maryland Championships

On April 17-18, students from Southern High School traveled to Baltimore to compete in The 42nd Annual SkillsUSA Maryland State Championship. The students were accompanied by Jared Roth, machine tool teacher, and Loren Bowser, carpentry teacher.
William Paugh, Payton Dixon, Justin Peck, and Cody Richter competed in cabinet making, and Devon Tracey, Blake Harman, and Zach Shreve competed in the area of Computer Numerical Control Technician. Also, Kevin Walker, Myles Perron, Tyler Simpson, and Conner Bosley competed in Teamworks.
Of these students, four placed in the top three in their competition areas. Blake Harman had a 3rd place win in CNC Technician, and Zack Shreve had a 1st place win in CNC Technician. Payton Dixon placed 2nd and William Paugh placed 3rd in the cabinet making competition. Zach Shreve will go on to Louisville, Kentucky, in June to represent the state of Maryland at the national competition.
