Students Present at Pittsburgh INTEL/ISEF Science Fair

Approximately 60 students from Garrett County middle and high schools competed in this year's Pittsburgh INTEL/ISEF Science Fair held at Carnegie Science Center/Heinz Field on March 28 and 29, 2014.  Those receiving awards at the high school level included:
Alex Miller (NHS)
  • Honorable Mention Award for Electrical Engineering from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers
  • Sponsor award from Aerotech
  • Sponsor award from Carnegie Mellon University
Joshua Smith (NHS)
  • Sponsor award from the Pittsburgh Chapter of ACI
Annie Fratz (NHS)
  • Perseverance Award
Heather Homberg (SHS)  Effectiveness of Moisturizers
  • Science Fair Scholarship of $2000/year for 4 years to Gannon University AND the Science Achievement Scholarship of $2000/year for 4 years to Waynesburg University
Troy Deckman (SHS) The Effect of Compression Rates on the Replaying of Music
  • Scholarship of $1000 /year for 4 years to Indiana University of Pittsburgh's College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics
