Students from Swan Meadow and Northern High School met for a day of Stream Restoration activities and collaborated with area agencies in their continuing efforts to improve stream quality in Garrett County.  The April 8 project involved middle and high school students conducting water quality analysis, kick seine macro-invertebrate counts, invasive species removal, and bird house cleaning as well as other activities related to their ongoing work to improve water quality.  Friends of Deep Creek Lake and State and Local DNR officials participated in the day's activities along with teachers Mrs. Liz Rees Gilbert and Mrs. Rebecca Kenyon-Sisler.  Both teachers are recipients of grants and community/agency support and donations which make this work possible.  A special thanks to local farmers and landowners for their support of this educational and environmental project.
