Health Dept Helps Celebrate Red Ribbon Week at Route 40

Last Updated on Nov 5, 2015 at 1:10pm | Route 40 Elementary School

Route Forty fifth grade students welcomed Sharon Custer, Health Education and Outreach staff member, from the Garrett County Health Department, to their classroom on October 29, to celebrate Red Ribbon Week. Ms. Custer discussed making healthy choices and not allowing peer pressure to sway one toward making bad decisions. She also discussed the importance of  avoiding drugs and alcohol.

Students played a game based on selecting choices, and then created “I Choose” tee shirts. Students decorated theirs shirts using markers and wrote how they would choose to be healthy. Students excitedly put on their shirts and thanked Ms. Custer for sharing her
knowledge with them.
