Parent-Teacher Conferences

Board Policy

     At all times during a given school year, the Garrett County Board of Education encourages all teacher personnel to initiate conferences with parents relative to student progress in school. These conferences may be hold within the teacher day prior to actual class instructional time at the beginning of the day, during teacher planning time, and after actual class instructional time at the end of the day. Conferences may also be hold during instructional time provided that an assistant is available to monitor the class.

     To further emphasize the importance of parent-teacher conferences, the Board of Education places two Parent Conference Days into the school calendar each year. On a school-to-school basis through a written request by the principal and approval by the Superintendent of Schools, teachers may be dismissed early if an equivalent amount of time is spent in the evening prior to the scheduled Parent Conference Day. On each scheduled Parent Conference Day, the Superintendent of Schools will have an evaluation made to determine if such Parent Conference Days will be continued the following school year.
