GARRETT COUNTY SCHOOL HEALTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Board Policy
The Public Schools in response to Maryland Education Bylaw 13A.04.18.02 has established a Garrett County School Health Advisory Committee for the purposes of:
1. Consulting with the professional educators in developing, implementing, and evaluating the school programs in the area of family life education within the program of Comprehensive Health Education, and;
2. Promoting cooperation among the school system, the health agencies, and the community in providing family life education programs.
The committee is advisory in nature; the legal responsibility for the local school health programs and the materials used remains with the Public Schools and its administrative staff.
The Health Advisory Committee will meet twice annually. Tentative agendas for these meetings will be sent to all of the membership. Additional meetings may be called by the chairpersons. The chairpersons may invite individuals to participate in committee meetings on a non-voting basis for the purpose of consultation and providing expertise. Members of the general public must contact either of the chairpersons if they wish to be put on the agenda. The committee will report to the Board annually, preferably each summer.
