FOOD SERVICE SATELLITING PROGRAM
Administrative Procedure
The food service satelliting program is predicated upon the fact that food can be prepared at one school and transported and served at another in a more cost effective manner.
The following schools are currently satellited: Accident, Broad Ford, Hickory Environmental Education Center, Crellin, Friendsville, Kitzmiller, Route Forty, and Yough Glades.
A school will be considered for the satelliting of food service when one of the following criteria are attained:
1. The school serves fewer than 200 meals per day. 2. The cafeteria manager retires, resigns or transfers (voluntary or involuntary). 3. A new school is built. 4. The location of a school makes it practical.
A larger school, within a reasonable distance of the satellited school, will be designated by the Food & Nutrition Services Program Manager as the preparing kitchen.
