FOOD SERVICE SATELLITING PROGRAM

The food service satelliting program is predicated upon the fact that food can be prepared at one school and transported and served at another in a more cost effective manner.

The following schools are currently satellited: Accident, Broad Ford, Hickory Environmental Education Center, Crellin, Friendsville, Kitzmiller, Route Forty, and Yough Glades.

A school will be considered for the satelliting of food service when one of the following criteria are attained:

        1. The school serves fewer than 200 meals per day.
        2. The cafeteria manager retires, resigns or transfers (voluntary or involuntary).
        3. A new school is built.
        4. The location of a school makes it practical.

A larger school, within a reasonable distance of the satellited school, will be designated by the Food & Nutrition Services Program Manager as the preparing kitchen.
