REPAIR OF SCHOOL BUSES

Administrative Procedure

The Public Schools contracts with persons to provide buses to transport our school children. This procedure has been developed so that contractors know what is expected of them when a bus breaks down and needs repairs.

1. All school vehicles contracted to the Public Schools must be available to transport students during regular school days and be ready for inspection at the
    announced inspection dates.

2. The Director of Transportation must be notified when a bus breaks down causing a change in the busing pattern or schedule.

3. Spare buses must be used, when possible, to replace a bus on a route while the bus is undergoing repair.

4. A school bus must be repaired and back on the road in less than ten (10) consecutive school days. As a result of certain extenuating circumstances this limit can be
extended by the Superintendent of Schools.

5. School buses off the road for more than ten (10) consecutive school days may lose their Basic Vehicle Allocation, at which time the Superintendent will review the
situation to see if he should recommend that the contract be cancelled.
