POLICY DENYING ACCESS TO SCHOOL BUILDING AND GROUNDS

Board Policy

    The Public Schools of Garrett County in addition to Annotated Code Article 26-102 of The Public School Laws of Maryland duly designates the assistant principal and in those schools, including the coordinator of the Hickory Environmental Education Center, not having an assistant principal, the person so designated by the principal to be the next highest official, and in the absence of such persons (principal, assistant principal, highest official) after normal school hours designates the custodian in charge, and gives them authorization to deny access to the buildings or grounds of the institution to any person who does not have lawful business to pursue at the institution or who acts in a manner that disrupts or disturbs the normal educational function of the institution. Public Schools also designates the Executive Director of Instruction and the Director of Maintenance, Operations, and Facilities and gives them authorization to deny access to the buildings or grounds of the school facilities.
