CALCULATING SALARIES OF EMPLOYEES WHO CHANGE FROM TWELVE-MONTH EMPLOYMENT TO ELEVEN-MONTH EMPLOYMENT
Administrative Procedure
Employees of the Garrett County Public School System working twenty hours or more per week receive twenty-four salary checks regardless of the number of months they are employed. For those individuals who change from a twelve-month employment period the following procedure is used:
1. The eleven-month employment period begins August 1.
2. The teacher salary scale for the coming school year will be used as a base. The base salary is divided by days set out in the operational calendar for ten-month employees to determine a per diem rate. The per diem rate is multiplied by days in the operational calendar for eleven-month employees to arrive at the Annual salary. 3. The annual salary will be divided by twenty-four with the first check being issued with the second pay release date in August. All eleven-month employees are to work the regular school year plus twenty days during the period of July 1 through June 30. Generally these days are worked between the closing of school and the opening of school for the following year.
Extra days worked beyond the school year must be reported on a monthly basis to Finance.
