Workforce Plan for Non – Instructional Support Service Personnel
Board Policy
The Office of Human Resources for the Garrett County Board of Education will work with department directors, supervisors and school administrators to ensure that we hire the most qualified candidates to fulfill non-instructional positions.
It is our goal to bridge the gap between the current workforce and future needs. We will use methods that provide the highest return on investment to attract, develop, and retain employees needed to accomplish our goals.
These methods include:
Using our intent form process for staff to indicate their expected year of retirement
Recruiting practices that provide a qualified, diverse pool of applicants.
Attending local job fairs to share the different types of employment opportunities available within our school system.
Collaborating with Garrett College to ensure that students in their “Career Technology and Training Center” program are aware of the different employment opportunities within our school system.
Posting job vacancies on Garrett County Board of Education website and in our schools.
Providing employee training and development opportunities to build leadership, job expertise and other skills.
Providing substitutes the opportunity to work and learn the expectations of the positions within our schools.
Utilizing the “School to Career” internship program, interested students will be given the opportunity to provide service in our schools, as detailed by their career pathway.
Therefore, in order to attain a highly competent and skilled workforce, it is extremely important to work collaboratively with all department Directors and Supervisors as well as School Administrators.
