STAFF DATING STUDENTS

Administrative Procedure

  1. Definitions

  1. Staff Awareness:

The Personnel Department shall see that each new staff member has knowledge of this policy/procedure and its relationship to the child abuse/neglect policy and
procedures for reporting both. Members of the students' community, including staff, substitutes and volunteers who assist in school matters, are to be informed by
appropriate school-based administrators about their duty to report abuse and neglect and to not violate the dating policy.

  1. Procedure For Reporting

Any person who has reason to believe that an employee has violated this policy must report such to the employee's immediate supervisor who will report the matter to the Superintendent. The Superintendent will initiate an investigation of the situation in a timely manner. It is recommended that two administrators jointly conduct the investigation. Written statements are to be obtained from witnesses, victim and the suspected abuser. Results of the investigation are to be shared with the Superintendent or his/her designee and if warranted, a report is to be filed with the appropriate legal authority. The investigation will stop at the point when there is reason to believe that sexual abuse may have taken place and a report will be made to the Department of Social Services. An internal investigation may be conducted following an investigation by DSS. Cooperation with DSS and the State's Attorney's office is encouraged.

A HIGH LEVEL OF CONFIDENTIALITY IS TO BE MAINTAINED THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE INVESTIGATIVE PROCESS.

Recommended disciplinary actions could include one or more of the following:
