Insurance Programs

Board Policy

• Social Security

  All employees of the Garrett County Public Schools are covered by social security in the same manner they would be in any other occupation, with both employer and employee contributing.

• Group Insurance

  All full-time employees of the Garrett County Public Schools are covered by a group health and accident policy paid for by the Board within the terms of the appropriate negotiated agreement.

• Worker's Compensation Coverage

  All employees of the Public Schools are covered by the Injured Worker's Insurance Fund which pays varying amounts for loss of time due to accidents on the job. All pay benefits which include worker's compensation may not exceed the employee's regular salary.

• Liability Protection

  The Board carries liability insurance which provides coverage for employees carrying out the responsibilities of their job subject to current policy provisions and conditions.
