Board Policy

In transferring from one category to a higher category on the salary schedule of the Garrett County Board of Education, the following will apply regardless of the number of years of service in a comparable position:

1. Employees, within the system, will be placed on the step of the higher category which corresponds to the daily rate of pay which is immediately above the daily rate of
    pay received in the previous category, and
2. Effective July 1, 2003, individuals hired from outside the system will be placed no higher than the sixth step of a category. This salary schedule placement shall
    increase July 1, 2004 to step seven; July 1, 2005 to step eight; July 1, 2006 to step nine; and July 1, 2007 to step ten. In areas of critical supply and demand the Board
    of Education may waive this condition.
3. All Garrett County teaching experience shall count toward steps.

The Public Schools reserves the right to establish new salary classifications with appropriate salary schedules for all certificated and non-certificated personnel based on job responsibilities and descriptions.
