SALARIES FOR PROFESSIONALS EMPLOYED UNDER FEDERAL PROGRAMS

Administrative Procedure

The selection of professionals employed under federal programs is made on the basis of the best person for the job, and not only upon the certification credentials, per se. During the duration of these projects, the professional will be paid on the basis of the regular salary scale, its increments, and its benefits; and will not be penalized by receiving a lower salary for an issued provisional certificate. The professional will also be encouraged to complete certification in the area for which the teacher is employed under the federal project. If the federal project expires or if federal support of the project is withdrawn and the program and its personnel are incorporated into the program of studies, the professional involved with a provisional certificate may be given a maximum period of two years to complete regular certification without a reduction in salary.

For all persons hired for local, state, and federal projects who do not meet certification requirements, the staff member coordinating personnel should have the concurrence of the superintendent prior to making this commitment on the part of the county.
