Administrative Procedure

Qualified individuals who are interested in becoming candidates for principalships within the State of Maryland are required to successfully participate in the Maryland Assessment Center Program. Qualified employees of the Garrett County Public Schools, those who hold a principal/supervisor certificate or who have-satisfied the requirements for an Administrator I certificate, should notify the Coordinator of the Professional Development Center of their interest in attending so that names can be submitted to MACP annually by April 1. MACP will notify applicants of the dates, time and location of orientation sessions and will assign applicants to specific centers.

To encourage the participation in MACP by current employees, the Board will reimburse payment of the assessment center fee in an amount equal to the tuition reimbursement for three college credits based on the amount stated in the employee's negotiated agreement using the following guidelines:

All applications to attend the MACP will be processed through the Professional Development Center Coordinator. When the individual is scheduled to attend MACP professional leave will be granted by the Director of Personnel and the cost of the substitute, if needed, will be paid by the Board. All other costs; such as, fees, overnight accommodations and travel expenses are the responsibility of the employee.
