Board Policy

The evaluation of teachers by the appropriate administrators and supervisors is an integral part of the instructional program of the Garrett County Public Schools. Teacher evaluation focuses on the teacher and his or her results as a teacher. Its operational questions are "WHAT WAS DONE?" and "HOW WELL WAS IT DONE?"; and its purpose is to summarize the teacher's total performance after the fact. The Garrett County Public Schools instructs the Superintendent of Schools and his/her appropriate designees to continue a regular and periodic evaluation of each employed teacher in the Garrett County Public School System according to developed administrative procedures for this purpose. These procedures are to be reviewed periodically and revised accordingly to keep them consistent with Maryland educational laws and purported good teaching practices.
