    - A structured season of activity and/or
     - A specific instructional program (excluding home teaching).

For programs, projects and/or activities which are of a recurring nature, temporary employment assignments held by permanent Public Schools employees may be renewed. Current employees will be given consideration where applicable.

For all new programs, projects and/or activities, for which temporary employment assignments are considered appropriate, vacancy announcements will be posted at the Central Office and in other appropriate areas and qualified individuals will be given the opportunity to apply. The administrator(s) of the program, project and/or activity and a principal or another administrator will review applications and recommend employment based on the stated qualifications and needs of the system.

An individual shall be assigned to temporary employment status by the execution of a Temporary Employment Assignment form which includes the employee voluntary acceptance of, and willing agreement with, the terms stated thereon.

A temporary employee in signing the Acceptance portion of the Assignment to Temporary Employment form agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Public Schools of Garrett County and/or the Funding Agency as well as their agents from any and all financial or personal liability resulting from services rendered other than those stated in the Assignment to Temporary Employment, or as required by Law.

Services rendered under the Temporary Employment policy, whether part-time or full-time, shall not be applicable for or earn credit toward any benefits such as tenure, retirement, holiday pay, accrued vacation, leaves, or any other fringe benefits.

Temporary employees shall be covered by Worker's Compensation, FICA, and other benefits as required by Law.

A temporary employee will be paid an hourly or a daily rate as established for the particular assignment.
