Administrative Procedure

Employees of Garrett County Schools are either part-time or full time ten, eleven, or twelve-month employees. To qualify as a full-time employee the employee must be hired to work a minimum of thirty(30) hours per week for the school year or longer and the salary will be based on an annual amount.

All ten-month employees, with the exception of custodial-maintenance personnel, will work the teacher calendar plus additional agreed upon days.. Eleven-month professional employees will work the teachers calendar plus twenty (20) additional work days. Twelve-month professional employees work the teachers calendar during the regular school year, also the additional days in June, July, and August minus annual leave taken based on the needs of the school system.

The annual leave for twelve-month maintenance-custodial personnel is included as a part of their Negotiated Agreement.

Employees will receive twenty-six (26) pay checks per year. A schedule will be released annually which includes the pay periods and pay dates. Adjustments for unacceptable absences are made in the check for the pay period covered by the salary check.
