EDUCATIONAL FIELD TRIPS
SPECIFICALLY
, CO-CURRICULAR EDUCATIONAL FIELDTRIPS
Administrative Procedure
In order to facilitate and to assist teachers in arranging Educational Field Trips which are a part of Instructional Services, the following definitions and procedures are given:
DEFINITION | PROCEDURE |
1. Curricular Field Trips: Those educational experiences considered as part of the regular program offerings. |
1. Secure approval from the principal of the school. |
2. Consult the Director of Planetarium or the Director of Camp Hickory. |

3. Make all arrangements through them. |

4. Payment is made from budgeted monies. |
|
2. Co-Curricular Trips: Those educational experiences which are an extension or enrichment of the regular program offerings. |
1. Secure approval from the principal of the school. |
2. Complete the "Permission Request From #348.72 which is supplied to the principal of each school. |

3. Secure the signature of the principal. |
|
4. Send the "Permission Request Form #348.72 to the appropriate professional at the Board of Education building. |
|
5. Notification within four school days will be made of approval of disapproval of the trip. |
|
6. Payment is made from budgeted monies, if available. |

3. Extra-Curricular Field Trips: Those educational experiences not found in the regular program offerings and/or are essentially competitive in nature or are by special interest groups. |
1. Secure approval from the principal of the school, Permission Request From #348.72. |
2. Consult the coach, the Band Director or the sponsoring group's chairperson. |

3. Make all arrangements through him/ her for contacting buses, or do them yourself. |
|
4. Payment is made by the sponsoring group. |
|
4. Other: Those educational field trips which involve a small group, class, and the school only; those trips not covered by the above. |
1. Secure approval from the principal of the school according to Policy #348.7. |
2. Arrange your own transportation with the bus contractor. |

3. Payment is made by the teacher and/or school involved. |
All Educational Field Trips must follow these general regulations:
1. Planning for educational field trips should be made at the minimum of two weeks in advance. This is absolutely necessary for "Co-Curricular Field Trips".
2. All Educational Field Trips must use a county-owned or County-contracted vehicle unless permission, is granted by the appropriate administrator indicated in Policy #348.7.
3. All sponsors of Educational Field Trips must see that the proper papers are processed and that payment is made to the appropriate person/persons.
