Board Policy

  1. Local School Media Complaint Review Committee

    2.      The purpose of this committee will be to review decisions of the local school principal if a complainant requests review beyond the principal's decision. The committee will be a representative cross-section of the school community. Five to eleven persons may be selected by the principal and Executive Committee of the PTA to serve in this capacity. The principal will not be a voting member, but will serve as chairperson of the committee. Items referred to the committee for decision will be reviewed and decided upon within on month of their receipt by the committee chairperson. Items of a similar nature, not needed by the committee for review purposes, will remain in circulation during the review process. A quorum of the committee must be present for review and decisions will be made by the majority vote of those members present.

  2. Garrett County Media Complaint Review Committee

    3.      The purpose of this committee will be to review decisions of the local school media committee if a complainant requests review beyond the local school. The committee will be a representative cross-section of the county with some persons having knowledge of media and others representing cultural communities and geographic communities of the county. Eleven persons will be appointed by the Public Schools to serve on the committee, with the Assistant Superintendent, Curriculum and Instruction, serving as a non-voting chairperson. Items referred to the committee for decision will be reviewed and decided upon within one month of their receipt by the committee chairperson. At least seven members of the committee must be present for conducting business and a majority vote of those present will decide the issue.
