SPECIAL EDUCATION POLICY AND PROCEDURES
Board Policy
The Garrett County Public Schools provides free and appropriate special education services to students with disabilities as mandated by federal and state legislation (Public Law 105-17, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, and the Maryland State Bylaw, COMAR 13A.05.01, Programs for Students with Disabilities). In doing so, the Garrett County Public Schools strive to meet high standards for students with disabilities to prepare them to exit school with the necessary skills to contribute and participate in their communities.
The inclusive procedures are available to all staff in the "Public Agency Standards Submission (PASS), Special Education Handbook" placed in the central office, each school administrative office and media center. It is the responsibility of the central office and school based personnel of the Garrett County Public Schools to implement these procedures.
