Board Policy

     The Garrett County Public Schools, recognizing the important part that the fine arts play in the full development of young people, establishes the Fine Arts Advisory Committee. The purpose of the committee will be to provide advice to the Garrett County Public Schools concerning fine arts experiences of a curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular nature.

     The committee will be representative of members of the school staff as well as the community-at-large. Members are to serve on a continuing basis until they wish to be replaced. Membership on the committee is to include three fine arts teachers (one each from the elementary, middle, and secondary levels), the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction, a member of the Garrett County Arts Council, a member of the Garrett Lakes Arts Festival, a representative from Garrett Community College, two parent representatives from the Garrett County Council of PTA's and one Public Schools member. The Assistant Superintendent for Instruction will serve as the chairperson for the committee.

     The Fine Arts Advisory Committee is to meet, at a minimum, during the months of September, December, and May, with advice to be tendered to the Board of Education as the committee deems appropriate.
