Student Services Home

The Student Services Department provides personnel services for children.

A large part of this service consists of the coordination of the many community services available to children: services offered by the Health Department, Mental Health Department, Department of Social Services, Department of Juvenile Justice, and Office for Children, Youth, and Families. The Student Services Department also offers the following services: psychological, counseling, legal referral, special testing, special education, parent training, parent and teacher consultation, home/hospital teaching, and review of home instructions programs. This department also works with law enforcement agencies on matters pertaining to school-aged children. The Student Services Department is responsible for overseeing the collection and maintenance of student information and data.

Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week

May 1st - 7th is Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week. The Maryland Coalition of Families urges all families to consider the mental health of their children, and especially at this difficult time of the COVID pandemic.

Their site, https://www.childrensmentalhealthmatters.org/ provides a wealth of tips, activities, and resources. These include ways for families to be alert to mental health concerns and activities to promote positive mental health for their children. For instance, you might have “Mental Health Mondays” for a special activity, or choose daily suggested activities for families from the Children's Mental Health Matters website captioned above. Take a few minutes each day this week to consider the mental health of the children and youth in our community.
