Garrett County Public Schools is proud to announce that Kylie Mark, senior at Northern Garrett High School, was awarded the 1st place High School award for her artwork entitled Silence Speaks Loud at Maryland’s First Lady’s Art Gallery Exhibition on Friday, October 9, 2020. This statewide exhibition was adjudicated and three awards were given for outstanding accomplishments in the visual arts at each grade band level (elementary, middle, and high school). Congratulations Kylie, on this outstanding accomplishment!
Kylie wrote about her project saying, “This piece was created to show how loud the minds are of individuals who stay silent. I created a visual of a girl who has her mouth smudged out, to show that she stays silent. In the background, I used a lot of intricate patterns and shapes to display the girl’s loud mind. The drippy eyes were originally supposed to be crying eyes, but the drips matched the background so I kept them. My color scheme was blues, purples, black, and white.”
