Ms. Barbara Baker, Superintendent of Schools, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Anne Ross to the position of Principal of Yough Glades Elementary School beginning in the 2021-22 school year. Mrs. Ross, a 1996 graduate of Southern Garrett High School, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary/Middle School Education and a Master’s Degree in Administration and Supervision from Frostburg State University. She also holds a Maryland Advanced Professional Certificate with Administrator I and II endorsements.
Mrs. Ross has been employed by Garrett County Public Schools since 2006. She has served as the Assistant Principal of Broad Ford Elementary School from 2017 to the present. Mrs. Ross was the Assistant Principal of Southern Middle School from 2012-2017 and a teacher at Southern Middle School from 2006-2012. She was also a math teacher at Washington Middle School in Cumberland from 2000-2006.
Superintendent Baker stated, “Mrs. Ross brings significant administrative experience to her new role as principal at Yough Glades Elementary School. In addition, as a nationally board certified teacher, she has served as an instructional mentor for those in GCPS who are also seeking to earn this distinction. She is focused on data driven instruction which will allow her to effectively lead the school improvement and recovery initiatives at Yough Glades.”
While serving in various roles within the school system, Mrs. Ross received the National Board Certification in 2008 and served as a Maryland State Certified Smartboard trainer since 2009. She has also attended the Educator Effectiveness Academy, the Aspiring Principal’s Academy, Promising Principals, Facilitative Leadership workshop, and Teaching Students with Disabilities.
