The Garrett County Board of Education voted on January 12, 2021, to accept the Superintendent’s recommendation to remain in the “red model” in which students are learning virtually. Students will begin transitioning back to in-person learning when the Garrett County metrics are at 5% or less positivity rate and 15 or less per 100,000 for 14 consecutive days.

There have been 1,760 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Garrett County. Current metrics from the Garrett County Health Department are: 7-Day Positivity Percentage: 11.02%; 7-Day Case Rate Per 100,000: 20.19.

Thanksgiving Holiday Information

All Garrett County Public Schools will be closed on Thursday, November 26, 2020, and Friday, November 27, 2020, for the Thanksgiving holiday.
 
Please note, as per the GCPS calendar, students will be dismissed 3 hours early on Wednesday, November 25, 2020. With the 3-hour early dismissal, students will engage in asynchronous learning through Schoology in the morning. Teachers will not have office hours in the afternoon.
 
Also, the Help Desk will not be available on these dates and times. The schools, offices, and Help Desk will reopen on Monday, November 30, 2020. We wish everyone a restful and healthy Thanksgiving holiday.
