Update on the Schoology Learning Management System

Last Updated on Aug 31, 2020 at 8:14am | Public Information Office

As the Garrett County Public School system prepares for the start of the 2020-2021 school year, we would like to provide the following guidance on our new learning management system called Schoology. This new platform is an integral part of our reopening plan. The majority of our students will begin the year learning virtually. Parents and students should note the following information:

  • Students become active in Schoology courses on the first day of school, which is Tuesday, September 8th.
  • Students and parents will log into Schoology for the first time at the Back to School or orientation event at their home school. The school will provide a unique access code to parents. Parents will use the code to create a Schoology account that will link them to their child. Parents of multiple children can add children to their account and those instructions will be posted on the GCPS website. If for some reason a parent or guardian cannot attend the Back to School or orientation event (s), he or she should contact the school for the access code.
  • A Parent and Student Resource Center will be added to the GCPS webpage on Monday, August 31, 2020. The resources will include instructional videos on several topics including logging into Google Chrome on your GCPS device, logging into Schoology, downloading the mobile Parent App, navigating Schoology, and other videos about Student use of Schoology.
