Northern Middle School Student a Winner at Maryland History Day

On Saturday, May 11, 2019, students from across the state competed in the Maryland History Day competition at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). Leah McKenzie, 8th grade student at Northern Middle School, won the Dr. Dean Mesologites Award for Medicine and Society, sponsored by the Honorable Stephen J. and Dr. Elizabeth Sfekas, for her project entitled "The Wonder Drug: The History of Penicillin."
Maryland Humanities sponsors Maryland History Day. Maryland Humanities is a statewide, educational nonprofit organization that creates and supports educational experiences in the humanities that inspire all Marylanders to embrace lifelong learning, exchange ideas openly, and enrich their communities.
