Dear Teachers,

This week, the nation joins together in celebration of the dedication, commitment, and passion displayed by teachers who strive to empower our youth to succeed in the classroom and in life.

On behalf of the Board of Education, our partner agencies, and the community, thank you for guiding and challenging students to push beyond perceived barriers, providing feedback in the learning process, collaborating with colleagues, and connecting to parents, families, and the community on behalf of our students. Your tireless efforts and long hours, especially during the latest changes on the education front, do not go unnoticed.

Foundational to every career, the excellent educational, co-curricular, and extra-curricular challenges and rigorous opportunities you provide positions our students for College and Career Readiness necessary for very competitive times. The impact you have as you form meaningful, caring relationships with your students is immeasurable. You may be the most significant adult in a young person's life because you go the extra mile.

Thanks again for your stellar work on behalf of our students and our future.

With gratitude,
Dr. Janet S. Wilson
Superintendent of Schools
