National School Nurses Day - May 11

Last Updated on May 11, 2016 at 7:02am | Public Information Office

National School Nurses Day, recognized by the National Association of School Nurses and by a Proclamation of Governor Hogan, is celebrated on Wednesday, May 11th, as part of National Nurses Week.  We are very appreciative of the high level of skills and expertise practiced by our school nurses and school health staff.  Their daily assistance to students, parents, families and school staff address a gamut of medical and health needs, from injuries and accidents, to sudden illness and treatment of chronic, involved medical conditions.  The school nurses and health staff provide care which allows the student to access instruction and education.  In addition, helping us all to focus on wellness and prevention of illness and disease in our schools provides a healthy school environment.
The health and well-being of our students is essential to learning and student achievement. Having the students at school and receiving instruction, school attendance is directly related to the health of the student and the school. So, on May 11th, please give a special THANK YOU to the school nurse and the health staff for their commitment and dedication.
