Southern High Boys Cross Country - State Champions

The Southern "Running" Rams were dominant in winning the Maryland State 1A Boys Cross Country State Championship, Saturday, November 8th, at Hereford High School. The Rams placed four runners in the top 10, and six in the top 20, to finish with 43 points, easily out pacing Bohemia Manor, the runners up, who finished with 81 points. Northern Garrett High School finished third overall with 91 points.

Freshman Declan Horner finished in fourth place, while teammate Devan Hamrick finished fifth. Jake Koziarski and Greyson Messenger finished ninth and tenth respectively, while Joe Mousch and Aaron Rodeheaver ended the day in fifteenth and sixteenth place. All six runners were named to the All-State team by finishing in the top 20. The state championship is the program’s sixth, and first since winning their last of five straight in 1997.
