Board of Education Meeting - June 24, 2014

The Garrett County Board of Education special business meeting that was tentatively scheduled for June 18, 2014, has been rescheduled for next Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at Southern Middle School and is slated to begin at 6:30 p.m.
 
The decision to reschedule the Board’s business meeting was made to give the community a full two weeks to provide public comment regarding the School Attendance Area Committee proposal shared at the Board of Education’s work session held on June 10, 2014, and the revised School Attendance Area Committee Report that was presented at the Board of Education’s business session on June 16, 2014. 
 
The Board of Education will meet in executive session on June 24, 2014, at 6:00 p.m. for the purpose of discussing personnel requests, contract clarification and healthcare. The executive session will be closed to the public.
 
The special business meeting will be held immediately following the executive session. The business meeting is open to the public and will begin at 6:30 p.m. The Board of Education will adopt the FY2015 final budget and receive the School Attendance Area Committee updates and recommendations. Public comment and the Superintendent’s announcements will follow.  The Board may take action on the School Attendance Area Committee’s recommendation at this special business meeting. 
 
The Board reserves the right to go into closed session, if needed, pursuant to State Government Article Section 10-508.
 
Accessing School Attendance Area Information
All of the information pertaining to the School Attendance Area Committee Report and the Transportation Study can be accessed on the Garrett County Public School’s website at www.garrettcountyschools.org. A paper copy of those reports can be secured by 
contacting the following schools: Broad Ford Elementary, Crellin Elementary, Swan Meadow School, and Yough Glades Elementary, or by contacting the central office. 
 
Public Comment
The Board members will continue to receive public comment in writing or through the Public Information Office email: areaenrollmentproposal@garrettcountyschools.org  until 4:00 p.m. on Monday, June 23, 2014.
