Last Updated on Jan 24, 2020 at 10:59am | Northern Middle School

The National Geographic GeoBee is an annual geography contest sponsored by the National Geographic Society. Over 10,000 schools across the United States participate in this event. The National Geographic GeoBee includes three levels of competition: school, state, and national.
Schools conduct a GeoBee and name a school champion. The school champion takes a proctored online qualifying test and the top-100-ranked students in each state qualify to represent their school at the Maryland State Geobee competition. State champions are then invited to compete in the national championship.
This is the second year that Northern Middle School has participated in this event. In Mrs. Carr's 6th grade Geography classes, the National Geographic Society's Geobee Maryland state qualifier test was administered to 96 students.
Tim Brands is the Northern Middle School winner coming in at 1st place overall. He will participate in the Maryland State Geobee on March 27, 2020.
