Ms. Barbara Baker, Superintendent of Schools, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Megan Knepp to the position of Principal of Broad Ford Elementary School beginning in the 2021-22 school year. She is a native of Garrett County and a graduate of Southern Garrett High School. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education in 2009 and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership in 2017.
Mrs. Knepp has been employed by Garrett County Public Schools since 2011. She has served as the Judy Center Educational Coordinator from 2020 to the present. In addition, Mrs. Knepp was in the Administrator in Residency (AIR) Program from 2019-20, a first-grade teacher at Crellin Elementary School from 2016-19, an elementary content specialist from 2013-16, and a math teacher at Broad Ford Elementary School from 2011-13.
Superintendent Baker stated, “Since joining the Garrett County School system over ten years ago, Mrs. Knepp has sought experiences in which she could use her excellent instructional and leadership skills to ensure that all children are meeting or exceeding the expectations set for them. By taking advantage of every opportunity presented to her, she has positioned herself to transition seamlessly to the principal of the district’s largest elementary school. She began her teaching career at Broad Ford and has now come full circle by returning there as an administrator. Mrs. Knepp is keenly aware of the importance of building relationships with students and families. I believe she will immediately endear herself to the teachers, parents, and children.”
While serving in various roles within the school system, Mrs. Knepp has participated in several professional development trainings including Schoology: Learning Management System, Next Generation Science Standards, Orton Gillingham, and the Master Teacher Program: K-2 Math Symposium. Mrs. Knepp will begin her new role on July 1.
