Grantsville School Student Wins 'If I Were Mayor' Writing Contest

Wyatt Shingler, a 4th-grade student at Grantsville Elementary School, was recently named the district winner of the Maryland Municipal League’s "If I Were Mayor, I Would..." contest from over 1,200 entries representing Maryland's fourth-graders. He was the winner in District 7 - Allegany and Garrett Counties. Wyatt is in Ms. Kelli Frantz’s classroom at Grantsville Elementary School.
As the District winner, city and town leaders and Governor Larry J. Hogan will recognize him at a special virtual ceremony on Friday, May 14, at 11:00 a.m.
As the District winner, Wyatt will receive a $100 cash prize, a recognition plaque, a Governor’s citation, and a spot in a Virtual Escape Room adventure on May 14.
