A Proposed School Calendar for 2021-2022

Last Updated on Feb 19, 2021 at 9:23am

A proposed school calendar for the 2021-22 school year was presented to the Garrett County Board of Education at its February 9, 2021, meeting. The calendar can be reviewed by visiting the school system’s website at:
The proposed school calendar and the recommendation of the School Calendar Committee are for a pre-Labor Day start with Monday, August 30, 2021, as the first day of school for students.
The calendar proposes that schools be closed on Autumn Glory Friday, Thanksgiving Monday, one parent-teacher conference day at the end of the first semester, and the Friday and Monday of Easter in April. The last day of school for students would be May 31, 2022. The calendar committee was split on the possibility of extending the spring break at Easter by two days. If the Board would decide to add a Thursday and Tuesday to extend a spring break, then the end of school would be June 2, 2022.
The Board is requesting the public review the proposed calendar and submits any comments by noon on Friday, March 5, 2021, to the Public Information Office at or in writing to:

The Board is expected to take action on the proposed calendar at its next meeting on March 9th.
