September 8, 2020 is the first day of school for the GCPS students.

The GCPS central office will be closed to the public until further notice. Anyone with a question or concern may contact public.info@garrettcountyschools.org, and you will receive a response.

There have been 52 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Garrett County.

Garrett County Public Schools 2020-2021 Calendar

Garrett County Public Schools has released the 2020-21 school calendar. At the Garrett County Board of Education meeting on February 11th, the Board voted for a Monday, August 31, 2020, start of school for students.
 
Several highlights of the 2020-21 school calendar are:
August 31: First day of school for students
September 7: Schools closed for Labor Day
October 9: Schools closed for Autumn Glory
November 3: Schools closed for Election Day
November 26,27,30: Schools closed for Thanksgiving break
December 24-January 1: Schools closed for Winter break
January 18: Schools closed for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
January 28: School closed for Parent-Teacher Conferences
February 15: Schools closed for Presidents’ Day
April 2 and 5: Schools closed for Easter break
May 31: Schools closed for Memorial Day
June 2: Three-hour early dismissal for students
June 3: Last day of school for students – 3-hour early dismissal
 
There are 11 possible makeup days included in the calendar: November 30, January 18 (with state approval), February 15 (with state approval), April 5 (with state approval), and June 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 14.
