The Garrett County Board of Education made several proclamations and recognized some accomplishments during the Board meetings in October and November.
Maryland Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame - Dave Taylor
Mr. Thomas Woods, Board Vice President, recognized Mr. Dave Taylor, wrestling coach at Southern Garrett High School, who was inducted into the Maryland Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame at a ceremony on October 6, 2019, in Annapolis.
Southern Garrett High School Marching Band – Atlantic Coast 1A Champions
Dr. Matthew Paugh, Board President, recognized the Southern High School Marching Band for winning the Tournament of Bands 1A Atlantic Coast Championship on Saturday, October 26, 2019, in Harrisburg, PA. The band scored a 96.285 with high scores in music, visuals, and winning best color guard.

School Psychologist Week Proclamation – November 11-15, 2019

American Education Week Proclamation – November 18-22, 2018
Mrs. Charlotte Sebold, Board Member, read a Proclamation in honor of American Education Week, November 18-22, 2019. Mrs. Sebold presented the Proclamation to Mr. Patrick Damon, Yough Glades Elementary School teacher and GCEA President, and Ms. Stephanie Lewis, teacher at Southern High School and GCEA Vice President.
