Garrett County Schools Ranked Among Top in Northeast

According to RewardExpert, Garrett County Public Schools is ranked as the 4th best public school system in the Northeast region of the United States.
 
RewardExpert is a service that helps users take full advantage of travel rewards and benefits. RewardExpert examined the hard numbers to distill which counties house the top performing schools in each of the six major geographical regions of the United States. The company analyzed the United States Department of Education information on every school in the country.
 
For Garrett County Public Schools, the results included:
  • Overall countywide average score of 89.75
  • Average graduation rate of 83.49%
  • Average percentage of students attaining math proficiency: 82.83%
  • Average percentage of students attaining reading and language arts proficiency: 85.5%
  • Average attainment gap of 4.33%
  • Home to one Blue Ribbon School.
 
Ms. Barbara Baker, Superintendent, stated “Garrett County Public Schools is a great school system, and it's exciting to get this type of recognition. This is confirmation that our strength lies in our workforce and their dedication to the students.”
 
Senator George C. Edwards conveyed to the Superintendent, “Congratulations to you and your teachers on the recognition by the U.S. Department of Education with a 4th place showing for Garrett County Schools in the Northeast Region of the United States. While we have long been aware of the excellence and dedication of our educators in the county, it is always nice to see them get the formal recognition they deserve. Please pass on my congratulations to them.”
