Last Updated on Apr 13, 2018 at 11:40am

International Save a Life Tour is coming to both Garrett County high schools at the end of April. Sponsored locally by Samantha Funding the Arts, the Save a Life Tour will visit Southern Garrett High School on April 25 and Northern Garrett High School on April 26, 2018. A safe driving awareness presentation for students in grades 9-12 will begin at 8:30 AM. After the initial presentation, grades 10 -12 students will participate in interactive, hands-on driving demonstrations that include a 1/2 million dollar Impaired Simulator and a 1/4 million dollar Distracted Driving Simulator that has visited the Pentagon.
The Save a Life Tour is a comprehensive, high impact safe driving awareness program that informs, educates, and demonstrates the potentially deadly consequences resulting from poor choices and decisions made by the operator of a motor vehicle. The program specifically places emphasis on the following driving situations: Distracted Driving, Impaired Driving, Driver Experience, Improper Driver Behavior, and Seat Belt Usage. The Save a Life Tour utilizes several methods for educating including: video presentation, speaking presentation, interactive demonstration with simulators, pre and post surveys, and take-a-ways, including a pledge card and a wristband.
This is the program that is used by the Department of Defense, as well as the Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT), Missouri DOT, and Rhode Island DOT, informing students on the dangers of driving impaired and driving while texting.
