Northern Middle School received a distinguished maintenance award, the Governor’s Citation for Superior Maintenance of Schools, on Friday, October 20, 2017, from the Board of Public Works, the Interagency Committee on School Construction, and Maryland’s Governor Larry Hogan. Mr. Mark Widmyer, on behalf of Governor Hogan, presented the school with the award for its superior maintenance rating and high standards of maintenance during the 2016-17 school year.
The Board of Public Works (BPW) bestowed this recognition and achievement to only 9 schools in 7 different Maryland school systems.
Ms. Barbara Baker, Superintendent of Schools stated, "I would like to recognize and congratulate the custodial staff, administrators, teachers and students for their efforts in maintaining a beautiful building in which everyone can learn safely and comfortably. Thanks should also go out to Mr. Swift and his staff for the excellent work they do each day."
