Garrett County Association of Student Council officers traveled to Northwood High School in Montgomery County on Saturday, December 10, 2016 to represent GCPS at the Exective Board meeting. The meeting began at 9:00 a.m. and adjourned at approximately 2:00 p.m. The student delegation was composed of GCASC President Mr. Hunter McCrobie (SHS), Student Member on the GCPS Board of Education (SMOB) Ms. Sheyenne Tichnell, and 2nd VP of GCASC Mr. Logan Mason (NX) accompanied by Ms. Y. Michelle Harman. The meeting was led by Ms. Colleen Larson (CASC)/MASC President and Mr. Matthew Talley (FCASC)/MASC Chief of Staff. The students were also treated to great hospitality by the Northwood Student Government who served breakfast and lunch to the membership.
The meeting included officer reports, staff reports, unfinished business from October Executive Board meeting (Leg Session report, Convention report from Allegany County, and CBF Student Leadership Retreat), LEAD conference updates, approvals of various legislation, and announcements regarding upcoming activities. The students had the opportunity to speak at length to our western region liaison, Mr. Ibrahim Diallo from Washington County, North Hagerstown HS, Grace Herron (Harford County), Grace Wu (Montgomery County), and Mr. Lucas Gorlin Tarbell (Baltimore County) as well as a number of other executive board members from across the state.
