Board of Education Recognitions

The Board of Education at its December meeting recognized the efforts of the high school Cross Country teams.
 
Ana Rhoten, a 10th grader at Northern Garrett High School, became the Maryland Girls 1A Cross Country State Champion on November 12 at Hereford High School in Parkton, Maryland. She finished the difficult course in 20 minutes, 9 seconds, which was a marginal 20 second lead over the 2nd place finisher. Ms. Rhoten was recognized by Mr. Thomas Carr, Board Member.

The Northern Garrett High School girls cross country team had 5 runners in the top 25 to take the second place finish in the Girls 1A Maryland State Cross Country Championship, behind Boonsboro High School, on November 12 at Hereford High School in Parkton, Maryland.  Team members in the top 25 were: #1 – Ana Rhoten, #3 – Faith Parandhamaia, #10 – Kylee Peck, #19 – Ella Rose Warnick, and #22 – Bailee Upole.  The team was recognized by Mrs. Cynthia Downton, Board Member.

The Southern Garrett High School "Running" Rams boys cross country team finished in second place at the Maryland State 1A Boys Cross Country State Championship, Saturday, November 12, at Hereford High School in Parkton, Maryland. The Rams team placed four runners in the top 25 to finish second in the state behind Bohemian Manor High School. Southern Garrett High School boys team runners in the top 25 were: #2 – Declan Horner, #4 – Christian Jordan, #7 – Ryan Hebb, and #14 – Zachary Warnick.  The team was recognized by Mr. Matthew Paugh, Board Member.
