The corps of cadets from the Southern Garrett JROTC program recently produced their annual Veterans Day ceremony at Southern High School. The ceremony was led by cadet battalion commander Mark Kisamore and his staff.

The cadets' ceremony provided poignant reminders of the purpose of Veterans Day. Mark Kisamore gave the opening remarks, followed by Cadets Zach Gilbert and Sierra Hawley, who gave the history and reading of "Flanders Field. Following these readings, the cadets conducted a flag folding ceremony, and Megan DeBerry read about the flag's symbols as the flag was presented to the oldest Veteran present, Marine sergeant Paul Shrogren.
