The Covestro Pittsburgh Regional Science and Engineering Fair was held at Carnegie Science Center and Heinz Field on Friday and Saturday, April 1 and 2, 2016.  This was the 77th Annual Fair and the area's largest regional event.  This year's fair included over 1,200 students, over 1,000 projects, and over 100 schools.  As this is the closest INTEL affiliated fair, Garrett County students compete each year as members of the PRSEF region.

Nearly 50 students from both Northern and Southern Garrett High Schools competed in this year's fair.  Some entered individual projects while some participated in the group projects, a newer category in fair competition.  GCPS walked away from this year's fair with approximately $150,000 in scholarships to area colleges and universities as well as other prestigious awards.

The highlight of this year's fair was the selection of Ms. Alexandra Miller of Northern Garrett High Schools as a finalist from our region. The Covestro Pittsburgh Regional Fair will support four finalists from the over 1,200 participants.  This is truly an honor and an accomplishment for GCPS and Ms. Alex Miller!  Alex will receive an all expenses trip to the INTEL INTERNATIONAL FAIR in May to be held in Phoenix, Arizona.  The INTEL ISEF is the Olympics of student science competitions and brings together nearly 1,700 students from 75 nations to compete for scholarships, grants, internships, field trips, and the grand prize - a trip to attend the Nobel Prize Ceremonies in Stockholm, Sweden!
