On Saturday, April 24, 2016, Jaclyn Jacobs 6th grade student at Northern Middle School, received the 2016 Maryland Letters About Literature Finalist Award at the University of Baltimore School of Law.  The Finalist Award was presented by the Maryland Center for the Book, a program of the Maryland Humanities Council and Co-sponsored by the Yale Gordon College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Baltimore.  Jaclyn was encouraged by Mrs. Ali Schlipp, who is a Media Specialist at Northern Middle School, to send her letter, which was written to The Book Thief Author, Markus Zusak, into the program.  The Letters About Literature is an annual program that encourages young people to read, be inspired and write back to the author, who has somehow changed their view of the world or themselves.
