Revised Maryland School Assessments (MSA) Testing Schedule

With schools being closed today, Monday, March 3, the testing schedule for the Maryland School Assessments (MSA) will begin on March 4.  Students in grades 3 through 8 will be assessed in the areas of Reading and Mathematics.  Most students will be taking a paper/pencil form of the tests.  Online testing will take place in Reading for students in grades 5 and 7 only.  The tests include multiple-choice questions and questions requiring written responses.  The tests require approximately 3 hours of testing time spread over two days for each subject. The revised schedule for testing in the schools for both paper/pencil and online testing is below.
 
Countywide revised paper/pencil testing schedule:

            March 10, 11               MSA Mathematics, Grades 3 / 4
            March 12, 13               MSA Mathematics, Grades 5 / 6 / 7 / 8
            March 14, 17, 18         MSA Reading/Mathematics Make-up Testing
 
            *Some students in grades 5 and 7 not participating in the online Reading testing will take the paper/pencil test on the days
             stated above.
 
The revised online testing schedule for MSA Reading in grades 5 and 7 is listed by schools:
 

            Route 40 Elementary –           March 4, 5
            Swan Meadow School –          March 4, 5, 6, 7
            Southern Middle –                   March 4, 5, 6, 7, 10
            Grantsville Elementary –         March 6, 7
            Friendsville Elementary –        March 6, 7
            Yough Glades Elementary –    March 6, 7
            Broad Ford Elementary –        March 6, 7, 17, 18, 19, 20
            Crellin Elementary –                March 14, 17
            Northern Middle –                    March 14, 17
            Accident Elementary –             March 14, 17

 
 
MSA Science testing for students in grades 5 and 8 will be taken during the period of March 24 – April 11, 2014.  The MSA Science school schedule will be released at a later date.
 
PARCC testing will also take place during the same time frame as MSA Science:  March 24-April 11.  One or two classes have been selected in each school to participate in the field testing of PARCC English/Language Arts or Mathematics in the elementary (grades 3 or 4) and middle schools and Algebra II in the high schools.  The PARCC schedule will be released at a later date.
