PreKindergarten Registration

~~Beginning March 3, 2014, Garrett County Public Schools will be accepting applications for its Prekindergarten Program. To be eligible for this program, a child must have been born between September 2, 2009 and September 1, 2010.
 
Interested persons must complete and submit the Prekindergarten Notification of Interest Form and a Prekindergarten Program Questionnaire. These forms can be obtained from the nearest elementary school or from the Office of Pupil Services at the Board of Education office in Oakland.
 
The packet includes the Notification of Interest Form, a parent letter, eligibility criteria and Prekindergarten Program Questionnaire. These forms will need to be completed and returned as soon as possible to the Office of Pupil Services.
 
Please note:
 The Prekindergarten Program is a needs-based program funded through the Maryland State Department of Education.  Enrollment is determined by the following criteria:
1.Those students who qualify for the free and/or reduced meals program;
2.Those students who qualify for the free and/or reduced meal program and reside outside the school’s attendance area;
3.Those students who have a documented need and live within the school's attendance area;
4.Those students who have a documented need but live outside the school's attendance area; and,
5.Those students who have no documented need but live within the school's attendance area;
6.Those students who have no documented need and live outside the school's attendance area.  
Those students in the third through sixth categories are admitted only if space is available.
