Pre-Kindergarten Registration

Beginning February 3, 2020, 8:00 am*, Garrett County Public Schools will be accepting applications for its 2020-2021 Pre-Kindergarten Program. To be eligible for this program, a child must have been 4 years old by September 1, 2020. Applicants are to register at the school within their district.

Garrett County Public Schools that offer the Pre-Kindergarten program are:
  • Accident Elementary
  • Broad Ford Elementary
  • Friendsville Elementary
  • Grantsville Elementary
  • Route Forty Elementary
  • Yough Glades Elementary
Interested persons must complete and submit the Pre-Kindergarten Notification of Interest Form and a Pre-Kindergarten Program Questionnaire. Beginning February 3, 2020 at 8:00 am*, these forms can be obtained from the nearest elementary school, from the Elementary Education office in Oakland, download and print here (paper form), or submit online here (electronic form)--each of these links will go live February 3, 2020, 8:00 am*.
*In case of an inclement weather day on February 3, applications will be accepted the next day schools are in session. In the event of a 2-hour delay, applications will be accepted beginning at 10:00 am.

Completed applications, with the parent's signature, should be submitted to one of the following locations:

The packet includes the Notification of Interest Form, a parent letter, eligibility criteria, and Pre-Kindergarten Program Questionnaire. We strongly encourage you to complete the Pre-K application at your earliest convenience. Upon completion of the application process, applicants will receive a letter with additional information regarding their application status. All Pre-K registrations will take place in June this year.
Please note:
The Pre-Kindergarten Program is a needs-based program funded through the Maryland State Department of Education. Enrollment is determined by the following criteria:
1. Those students who qualify for the free and/or reduced meals program;
2. Those students who have a documented need and live within the school's attendance area;
3. Those students who have no documented need but live within the school's attendance area;
4. Those students who have a documented need but live outside the school’s attendance area; and
5. Those students who have no documented need and live outside the school's attendance area.
Proof of Income will be required at registration.
